Search engine optimization is made up of relevant content, fresh content, and link population. I say this many times every day. However, an argument still exist out in the Internet Nation of whether you should spend more time on your content and on getting links to your web site.
Content is King saith the link opposition. It is truecontent is important. If you are not providing new content to the internet that is useful, enlightening, and down right interesting, you have a problem. Search engines download your entire web site (textually speaking) to determine what your web site is relevant to. The process is far more complicated but you get the general idea.
If a web site pertaining to cars has an encyclopedia of one million pages of car repair, car classifieds, car information, car related products, and car articles, it is very easy to see that this site is highly relevant to the term cars.
But what if our million page mammoth doesnt have any web sites linking to it? Realistically, that is not going to happenbut lets pretend.
Links to a web site are a symbol of good quality. After all, would a thousand people relate their web site to a web site that was not relevant nor useful? No usually. This is why Google particularly puts so much emphasis on link population. Your local car shop may have five hundred relevant links to it and only ten pages within the web site.
However, it is likely that your local car shop will rank higher than the car web site with over one million pages of content. Why? Because content is like weight. Ten pounds of gold may weigh the same as ten pounds of cotton but the value is still greater.
So one million pages of relevant useless content can be lost in the search engines because nobody is linking to it. Of course, with that much content, someone in a blog, web site, or forum is bound to make reference and link to the sitebut not if the content is useless.
What to do. Content comes first. Create a lot of good content. You are in business because you have something that others dont. Be it a product, ability to make a product, ability to perform a service, or a license to do a service, you have something that others do not. With that, you naturally have knowledge that others do not. Share that knowledge. Knowledge is equal to the aforementioned ten pounds of gold.
Once you have your knowledge on your web site, you can begin doing link exchanges and also receiving unrequested links to your web siteall because you now have useful, relevant, and interesting content. In the case of Content vs. Links, the verdict is simple. Both are important but content needs to come first and be useful. Links come after useful content and they need to be from relevant web sites.

Is your email marketing list relatively small and unresponsive? Learn how to energize your list building techniques by following these 6 proven ways:
1. Fill your website with valuable, useful information. People will only subscribe with you if they feel that you have the ability to provide them with the kind of information they need. You can communicate your expertise and your knowledge through your website. Make it informative, content-rich, and update it regularly. The more valuable content you post on it, the more traffic you can attract from search engines. The more traffic you have, the higher your chances of getting more sign-ups.
2. Make use of squeeze page. The key here is convincing your readers that there is so much valuable information in store for them, only if they provide their email addresses. Make your squeeze page compelling, enticing, and intriguing. It would also help to make it keyword-rich so you can attract search engine traffic.
3. Make it hassle-free for people to subscribe. Make your sign-up forms relatively short by asking for basic contact information which are email addresses and full names. Post these forms on your website and blog so your visitors can easily access them.
4. Utilize viral marketing. Send your current subscribers with free ebooks, newsletters, videos, or free report that they can send to anyone who might be interested with what you offer. Don't forget to include the URL of your opt-in form to boost your sign-ups.
5. Offer incentives. Reward your subscribers with freebies to show them how much you appreciate their membership. Since most people love getting something for free, this simple method can multiply your subscribers in no time.
6. Minimize opt-out requests. You would want to keep your current subscribers while you attract new ones. Keep them satisfied by sending them freebies or valuable information on a regular basis.

When one talks about marketing tools for a business, it is no doubt that article making is one of the most commendable if not the best commendable one. The powerful capabilities of an article to motivate a prospective client towards considering the buying or the usage of any product that is being marketed or promoted thru articles marketing is just so prevalent. This is the reason why article marketing has always been a useful and functional marketing tool. I have enlisted below some of the secrets most marketers use in their article marketing:
- In every article you make, always create an accurate, concise, and clear writing. Your prospective clients are to be treated as people who do not have the luxury of time to read and digest long and lengthy types of article materials. These people are basically hopping for not one but many and numerous products on the net. As such, they are basically faced by too many articles that they come across. Therefore, if you give them the exact details of your product on a very compacted form, so much the better.
- Always consider how intended recipients may be taking the article when received. This means that when you write any article for marketing reasons, you have to write like a recipient and not as a marketer. In so doing, you will know what your targeted clients expect to see on a marketing portfolio like that of an article.
- Always have your article material checked for possible grammatical errors. The article that you are sending out does not only represent you, as a writer, but most importantly, it represents the company and the product that is being endorsed. Any flaw that targeted clients may notice on the article shall be a point against the product and the company maker.

Leo Hanes is full time internet marketer, writing and publishing over 100 articles and four books primarily focused on the core principles of creating profits online.
You have just started generating your first ten articles and posted them on your blog, forum, or web site. Now you can also submit them to the major article directories, but what should you do after that? You should set goals for weekly article production.
Please understand that article production will not usually bring instant business. Article production, and bringing in new business prospects, is a gradual process. You will need to produce hundreds of articles to see a flood of new business.
However, prospects that arrive through web directories, can easily be tracked; and when they call by telephone, some of them will tell you how long they have been reading your blog, newsletter, or articles.
Article readers tend to be pre-qualified buyers because many of them will follow your writing, for awhile, before taking the step to purchase your products or services. When they are interested in purchasing from you, you should have an excellent customer service system in place.
This is where small business can easily defeat the larger corporate giants. Try to call a customer service representative in a Fortune 500 company. Observe how long it takes to talk in your language and to a real person. This is not a role model that small business should try to copy.
Have you ever called a company by telephone, left a message, and never received a return call? How often have you been left on hold, before you finally gave up, hung up, and purchased a product from another company that cared about you?
Your useful articles, and the fact that you actually answer the phone, or respond to an inquiry, are a big advantage.

Choosing the right keywords can dramatically increase your Web site traffic. How do you know if youve picked the right ones? These three steps will help you make the right decision when it comes to selecting keywords for your site.
1. Think like your user.
2. Do your research.
3. Be specific.
When you start coming up with possible keywords, the first thing you need to do is narrow down what your Web site is about. Lets say Im creating a Web site about my favorite car, the Porsche 356 Speedster. It makes sense that my first keyword phrase would be Porsche 356 Speedster.
But lets think about this from a users perspective. What other words might someone use to find my site? How about sports car, convertible, or collector car?
If your Web site is about a specific industry, avoid using jargon. Instead, choose words that your customers would use to describe your product or service. You have to think like your user.
Next, you want to do some research. Take the keywords youve come up with and run them through a keyword tool, like the one from Yahoo! Search Marketing. There you will see how popular that phrase is as well as possible suggestions for similar words.
If you have Web analytics in place, check your keyword analysis and see what words are already driving traffic to your site. If you dont have Web analytics, get them. They can tell you a lot about your site and your users.
Also, research the words your competitors are using. Type your chosen keyword into Google and view the source on the page to see what other keywords the top ranking pages are using.
Finally, once youve come up with a list of keywords, make sure they are descriptive and specific. While car is a popular keyword, its too broad. I would need to qualify it with the type of car my site is about, like German car. Even then, I would be competing with Volkswagen and Audi.
The more relevant the keyword, the more qualified traffic you will receive. So pick your keywords with care. Its not an exact science. Its a combination of analysis, experimentation and good old common sense. It is important, though, so spend the time and energy it takes to get it right.

Are you troubled by costly advertising fee and prohibitive prices of rich media and banner ads? Then, article marketing could be your best option for product and site promotions. Article marketing is a good strategy to get targeted traffic to your web site. It's also free and effective strategy in marketing campaigns. The following points are the 4 blockbuster approaches to targeted article marketing which could help you in promoting your web site or products.
1. Your articles must be related to your web site or products. This is common sense but some people make the mistake of producing articles totally unrelated to their products or services. These articles can also bring you traffic but they are not ready buyers. What you need are targeted clients who are ready to buy from you. To realize this, your articles must correspond to what you are selling.
2. Tweak your article titles to include important keywords and key phrases. You want to target people looking for cheap beauty products, you must write a buying guide about cheap beauty products with the phrase cheap beauty products in your title. In this way, when buyers search the internet they could easily hit your articles and proceed to your site eager to buy.
3. Join forums and discussion sites related to your products. Some of these sites will allow you to publish the full text of your articles. You can enhance your reputation and at the same time magnetize to your web site those that find your articles useful.
4. If you have a ready email list, offer your articles as a regular newsletter. If you still don't have a list, you should build it by having a subscription tool in your web site. You can be assured that those who will sign up are the really targeted ones and your emailed articles will serve as marketing follow-up.
